Signing the petition in San Francisco.

Thousands of people around the country are spreading the word about The Moratorium Campaign. Will you join them? Organize The Moratorium Campaign petition drive in your community!

Students! Find out about our new Student Organizing Kit!

The Moratorium Campaign petition is an incredible way to educate about the injustices of the death penalty. And we have all the tools you need! Let us know when you want to circulate the petition, and we'll send you a big banner for the table, petitions and education sheets, stickers, pens, bookmarks, and donation envelopes…everything you need to get people aware and signed on.

Set up a petition table to gather signatures.

And you can be creative! People have passed the petition around their churches and schools, around clubs and social groups, even around their bingo hall. They've copied the petition and put it in local newsletters, hung petitions on announcement boards on campus, and given them as handouts at the local bookstore.

Volunteers sort petitions from all over the U.S.

It's always best to tie in the petition drive with an educational tool. People want reasons why they should support a moratorium. Have your group discuss the death penalty, ask a religious leader to speak out against executions, host a debate about capital punishment, or convince your book club to read Sr. Prejean's Dead Man Walking. This expands the discussion and gets people more involved.
